Cantemerle is the second well known Médocaine property as you head north on the D2 after La Lagune, also in the Haut Médoc appellation. Originally left out of the 1855 classification it was reinstated as 5th growth at the insistance of its then owner Madame Villenueve Durfort. With 92ha of vineyard planted there is no shortage of wine at Cantemerle. Both the grand vin and the second wine les Allées de Cantemerle represent excellent value for money and both are produced in a modern, fruit forward and elegant style, typical of Bordeaux’s left bank.
